J MAR’s client, a privately held oil and gas exploration and production (E&P) operating company with a strong track record of growth, seeks a highly motivated A&D Reservoir Engineer to join its acquisitions team. The A&D Reservoir Engineer collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to identify and evaluate oil and gas acquisition and development opportunities, making recommendations based on technical evaluations and sound economic principles. This role will provide analytical analysis of reservoirs in multiple Basins throughout the lower 48.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with the A&D Team to ensure the timely evaluation of acquisitions, divestitures, and/or trades arising from both internally generated and third-party deal flow.
- Coordinate with geologic and operational staff to provide reservoir engineering input for development projects and drilling opportunities.
- Calculate individual well EURs, determine well spacing, generate type curves, and make acquisition and/or development recommendations based on return metrics for the corporation.
- Perform analysis and review of LOS/LOE, OpEx, differentials, and other economic assumptions related to various acquisition opportunities.
- Interpret well results in the context of specific geologic targets, reservoir fluids, completion design, flowback, and artificial lift.
- Assist in the development of new ideas and methods to resolve moderately complex reservoir engineering problems using modeling and simulation software.
- Assist with identifying opportunities by analyzing competitor data, development strategies, and industry trends.
- Provide guidance to other technical staff as well as economic support to different departments.
- Assist with preparing presentations for the executive team.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s in petroleum engineering or related discipline with relevant experience.
- 4+ years of experience working for an oil & gas operating company in a reservoir, development, and/or planning role.
- Multi-basin experience a plus.
- Proficiency in reserves and economic software (ARIES, PHDWin, or ComboCurve), data subscriptions (Prism and IHS Energy), and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a small multi-disciplinary team setting.
- Process oriented. Able to derive solutions for increased process efficiency, decreased turnaround time for outputs.
- Must be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills.
- Self-starter with strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to communicate and work effectively within a team and at all levels of the organization.
