SENIOR ACCOUNTANT, Rebate Accounting

J MAR & Associates’ client, a national parts and equipment distributor, seeks a Senior Accountant to manage rebate accounting, reconciliation, and compliance. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and collaboration across teams to optimize rebate processes and financial accuracy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Rebate Management & Compliance:

• Review rebate agreements and contracts, ensuring accurate collections and compliance.
• Manage rebate accounting, including calculations, accruals, reporting, and reconciliation process.
• Communicate with Product Management team to clarify rebate program terms.

Financial Analysis & Reporting:

• Analyze rebate variances and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Maintain and update rebate accrual models and reconcile balances.
• Provide detailed financial reports on rebate trends and financial impacts.

Process Improvement & Automation:

• Identify opportunities to streamline rebate processes and enhance controls.
• Implement automation and technology solutions to improve efficiency.

Audit & Internal Controls:

• Support month-end close activities and ensure accurate rebate transactions.
• Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation.
• Maintain organized records for audit compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Progressive accounting experience with a focus on data analysis.
• Experience is a distribution or manufacturing environment a plus.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, accruals, and internal controls.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Ability to work with large datasets and manage complex financial models or systems to track data.
• Proficiency in analyzing financial data to forecast rebate liabilities and assessing the financial impact of rebate programs.
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
• Project management skills: establish objectives, timelines, and deadlines; action planning to meet deadlines; evaluating current and future positions.
• Capacity for establishing and improving work procedures and systems.
• Skilled in developing and using systems for organizing and keeping track of information.
• Capable of communicating effectively across teams and external partners.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
