Reservoir Engineering Technician

Arlington, Texas Location

Oil & Gas company seeks a Reservoir Engineering Technician to be a shared resource between the Corporate Development and Corporate Reserves teams working in multiple basins throughout the US. The Reservoir Engineering Technician supports reservoir engineers identifying and evaluating oil & gas acquisition and development opportunities. The role also supports reserves engineers maintaining the corporate reserves database.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather and prepare input data for economic software programs including PHDWin, Aries, and Combo Curve.
  • Gather and update daily and monthly production from multiple sources, including PDS, Excel workbooks, Access databases, S&P Global public data, Quorum, and P2 Energy. Quality control data and input into economic software, ensuring that all corporate databases are updated daily.
  • Extract data from the corporate accounting system and Spotfire database to calculate average lease operating expenses, price deducts, and taxes for Company Reserve Reports.
  • Extract ownership data from accounting systems to ensure well interests are accurate and current.
  • Maintain payout balances and reversion information on individual prospects.
  • Assist in data preparation & evaluation for acquisition, divesture, and exploration opportunities.
  • Assist A&D reservoir engineers in running reservoir summary reports for acquisitions and divestitures and providing input on management committee PowerPoint and Adobe PDF presentations.
  • Assist reserves engineers by running reservoir summary reports for internal consumptions (finance, operations, and accounting teams, and externally for third-party auditors.
  • Prepare presentations, reports, and graphs utilizing PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Download, query, and analyze internal and public data.
  • Support all activities related to acquiring new assets and divesting current acreage or interests.
  • Support engineers with due diligence on third-party data rooms (e.g., LOS, capital programs, reserve base, etc.).
  • Support engineers with pricing assumptions to run the reserve database.
  • Run multiple scenarios efficiently and compile different assumptions in each scenario.
  • Utilize data analytics to evaluate acquisition opportunities.
  • Perform economic evaluations of potential development projects within an acquisition evaluation including drilling opportunities, re-fracs, facilities, and field expansions.
  • Research SEC filings and investor reports and pull relevant information and data.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Math, Science, Physics) required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an oil and gas reservoir engineering technician or other engineering discipline.
  • Delaware Basin experience and multi-basin exposure preferred.
  • Proficient in PHDWin, ARIES, and ComboCurve.
  • Highly Proficient in MS Office suite and other oil & gas engineering applications, including Excel, Access, VBA, and SQL.
  • Basic knowledge of IHS Enerdeq and state regulatory websites to pull well production.
  • Prior experience in oil & gas acquisitions.
  • Process-oriented. Able to derive solutions for increased process efficiency and decreased output turnaround time. Develop tools to streamline processes.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with small multi-disciplinary team settings.
  • Skilled in managing and analyzing large amounts of data.
  • Ability to present complex projects and analysis concisely.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and projects concurrently.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, organize, manage, prioritize, and execute on multiple deliverables.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Provide accurate and timely input data with minimal supervision.
