Oil & Gas company seeks a Controller with upstream oil & gas operations and financial accounting experience. Candidate will be responsible for the leadership, coordination, and development of the Company’s Revenue, JIB, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger Accounting Teams to ensure compliance with GAAP and other reporting requirements. The Controller reports to and works closely with the Chief Accounting Officer.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Team Leadership & Development: Manage and develop a staff of oil & gas accounting professionals across various functions, including general ledger, revenue, joint interest billing, and accounts payable.
- Financial Operations & Reporting:
- Oversee all accounting operations to ensure the department consistently produces accurate and timely financial results.
- Execute monthly closings with precision and prepare comprehensive financial statements.
- Monitor daily processes, assist with special projects, and proactively solve accounting-related issues.
- Compliance & Controls:
- Uphold corporate policies and maintain and monitor internal controls.
- Safeguard company assets and ensure adherence to financial integrity standards.
- Review financial data for consistency, accuracy, and completeness.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field. CPA designation is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in upstream oil & gas accounting, including managing general ledger, revenue, joint interest billing, accounts payable, and cash.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with OGSys is a plus.
- A clear, confident communicator capable of professionally engaging with owners, senior leaders, and staff.
- A mature professional with excellent judgment, interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Proven ability to motivate staff to achieve high-quality, accurate results while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
