A dynamic and forward-looking oil & gas company is seeking an accomplished Business Development Engineer with a strong background in reserves engineering. This strategic role will focus on identifying, analyzing, and recommending high-value acquisition opportunities throughout the Lower 48, with a particular emphasis on the Permian Basin. Reporting to the VP of Corporate Development, the successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the company’s growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deal Flow Evaluation: Proactively track, screen, and assess incoming acquisition opportunities against corporate benchmarks, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Market & Competitor Analysis: Stay ahead of industry trends by analyzing competitor data, development strategies, and activity across multiple basins to pinpoint and pursue new opportunities.
- Basin Activity Monitoring: Establish and maintain robust processes for tracking basin-level activities, identifying emerging opportunities, and converting market intelligence into actionable insights.
- Economic Assessment: Conduct thorough economic evaluations, including LOS/LOE, OpEx, differentials, and other cost parameters to guide sound investment decisions.
- Reservoir & Well Performance: Interpret well results considering geologic targets, reservoir fluids, completion designs, flowback data, and artificial lift methods to optimize asset performance projections.
- Market Intelligence Reporting: Develop and maintain a comprehensive A&D Marketplace Report, synthesizing recent transactions and trends to inform strategic decision-making.
- Transaction Management: Collaborate closely with the A&D Team, prioritizing deal evaluations, coordinating due diligence, and managing workflows for acquisitions, divestitures, and trades.
- Asset Review & Divestiture: Lead internal reviews of existing assets to identify potential divestiture candidates and facilitate the marketing and sale of these assets through the appropriate channels.
- Executive & Stakeholder Engagement: Prepare presentations and reports for executive leadership and external partners, effectively communicating the value propositions of identified opportunities.
- Technical Proposals: Assist in assessing, designing, and developing technical proposals and asset acquisition offers, ensuring alignment with company objectives and stakeholder expectations.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering.
- Experience:
- Proven A&D experience identifying, analyzing, and recommending acquisition opportunities.
- Demonstrated expertise in reserves engineering from an operating company, including reserves, reservoir, development, and/or planning roles.
- Regional Expertise: Must have L48 Basin experience; Permian/Delaware Basin expertise is highly preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in managing and analyzing large datasets; proficiency in reserves/economics software (ComboCurve, PHDWin, or Aries) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Analytical Tools: Experience with various analytics software is a plus.
- Soft Skills: A self-starter with strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.
